What are the Spiritual Stepping Stones in your child's life?
The Children's Ministry believes that there are several spiritual stepping stones in your child's life. They are:
- Growing to understand God and His love for them
- Acknowledging their need for God
- Accepting God into their hearts
- Following Jesus in Baptism
- Growing closer to God and learning to walk with Him
There are many opportunities for your child to begin taking these spiritual steps here at First Baptist Church. Your child's spiritual life is very important to everyone connected to Children's Ministry. Because of this, we have developed several programs that will assist you and your child as they begin and continue to take these spiritual steps.
Baby/Child Dedication
Several times a year we offer a time in our worship service where parents can participate in a dedication ceremony. This is an opportunity for parents to publicly affirm their desire to dedicate their child to God; to acknowledge that their child is a gift from Him and that they will raise their child in the way He has instructed them to do.

In The Zone Classes

Fill out your child's form and return it to the Children's Ministry Welcome Center.
ZONE 1
Zone 1 is for children who are asking questions about salvation and how to know Jesus better. Zone 1 is designed to partner with parents and their children by providing an intentional opportunity to explore questions about Jesus.
Zone 1 will focus on:
How to become a Christian
What happens once you are a Christian
How you can grow closed to Jesus
The goal of this class is to lay the foundation and give information to the parents and the child so when the time is right, the child can make an informed decision about follwoing Christ.
If your child has been asking faith related questions and showing interest in knowing more about Jesus, Zone 1 is the class for him/her!
ZONE 2
Zone 2 is for the New Christian! Once a child has made a decision to follow Jesus, he/she is now ready to participate in Zone 2. This class is a prerequisite for child baptism.
Zone 2 will focus on:
Children expressing their experience with becoming a Christian
The importance of the church
The importance of prayer and witnessing
Baptism and the Lord's Supper
The goal of this class is for children to develop a firm understanding of basic Christian fundamentals while they learn what it means to allow Jesus to become Lord of their lives.
If your child has made the decision to accept Christ then Zone 2 is for him/her.
Zone 3
Zone 3 is for 4th, 5th ad 6th grade Christian children who have completed Zone 2 and are seeking a closer walk with Jesus.
Zone 3 will focus on:
Writing a personal testimany
Developing the understanding and tools needed to witness
The importance of daily devotions
Increasing the child's desire for God
The goal of this class is for the children to be guided into a daily experience with Christ.
If your child is in 4th, 5th or 6th grade AND has completed Zone 2 AND desires to grow closer to God, then Zone 3 is the class for him/her!

Children's Baptisms
Before a child is baptised, he(she) must attend the In the Zone Zone 2 class. That is to make sure that they understand the decision that they have made and to understand the position they now hold in their church family.
