8Th Annual Coat and Clothing Drive!

We are currently collecting new and gently used (clean, no holes, or stains) coats, clothing and shoes.  Please sort and separate your donations by "department" and label the bags accordingly (i.s. women's, men's, girl's, boy's, infant, maternity)

Your donations may be dropped off at the rear entrance to the church during normal office hours throughout the week and on Wednesday evenings and Sundays during service times.

Additionally, there is a great opportunity to volunteer either Friday, October 24 to sort items and get set up or on Saturday, October 25 to help with the distribution to the local community.  You can sign up in the foyer on Sundays or by going to the sign up genius link here

Our Mission: To create every opportunity to share Christ and God's love with people in our community.

Biblical basis: "Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.'" - Matthew 25:34-36

A place for you: We value your involvement in local missions at First Baptist -- whatever your calling, whatever your talents:  "There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord.." 1 Corinthians 12:4-5 (NIV)

**Please contact Lauren if you'd like to be added to our email list, which sends out local missions volunteer opportunities once a week**

Action in the Community Through Service (ACTS)  United Way/CFC # 8001
We support ACTS, as well as collect and donate food for their food pantry.  Founded by local churches in 1969, ACTS works for the alleviation of human suffering in Prince William County in direct response to the charge of our Lord to clothe the naked, feed the hungry and welcome the stranger. Current ministries provided by ACTS are day care centers, emergency financial assistance, a food pantry, transitional housing, the Help Line, and Turning Points, a shelter for abused families. Parishioners are invited to join ACTS and are also asked to bring food to the church periodically during the year for donation to the ACTS food pantry. ACTS, which touches the lives of 30,000 people each year, provides concerned Christians with a direct link to those in need and a vehicle for a wide variety of meaningful volunteer service.  Please contact Janice Root at  This email address is being protected from spambots. Christmas Giving Tree
At Christmas,  we put up a Christmas Tree in the church foyer covered with tags with needs and wishes from a child's Christmas list.  We obtain a list of families in need from a local elementary school and a local homeless shelter, as well as those members of our congregation with needs.  FBCW members take a tag and buy the item/s listed and return them wrapped under the tree to be distributed just before Christmas.  Please contact Susie Van Rijn at  This email address is being protected from spambots. Angel Tree
Not to be confused with The Giving Tree, the Angel Tree project is a way for sharing gifts and the gospel at Christmastime for children of incarcerated parents. This is a great way to help bridge family ties, share God's love and the gospel, and provide children with a gift! For information on the 2014 luncheon or to get involved, please contact Lauren Craft at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. .

Annual Coat & Clothing Drive and Distribution
Every October, we collect new and gently used coats, clothing and shoes to be distributed to the community for free.  This event is advertised through ACTS, the local homeless shelters, and the local health department.  We begin accepting donations a few weeks prior to the distribution.  Distribution date for this year still to be determined.  For more information, please contact This email address is being protected from spambots. • Praying for young people.
  • Going where kids are.
  • Building personal relationships with them.
  • Winning the right to be heard.
  • Providing experiences that are fun, adventurous and life-changing.
  • Sharing our lives and the Good News of Jesus Christ with adolescents.
  • Inviting them to personally respond to this Good News.
  • Loving them regardless of their response.
  • Nurturing kids so they might grow in their love for Christ and the knowledge of God's Word and become people who can share their faith with others.
  • Helping young people develop the skills, assets and attitudes to reach their full God-given potential.
  • Encouraging kids to live connected to the Body of Christ by being an active member of a local congregation.
