Current Missions

Zambia, Africa
Mission of Love Community Orphanage Project
Our vision is to bring the love of Jesus Christ to the children of Zambia through physical and spiritual means. Our hearts longing is to empower the local churches and village community to meet the great need of the many orphans and widows through the development and support of an orphanage. (Psalm 68:5-6a)
This project, and its upcoming short-term mission for 2014, was initiated by prayer and seeking God’s desire for the Tonga people.  Our part of His Kingdom work is sharing the Good News and helping the local people in the accessible villages in Zambia (James 1:27).  There are many villages in or near the remote Mukamba region that are comprised of unreached people groups.  Gods work through us has reached the ears of those villages and it is now time for us to go to them as well.  We all come to God in our poverty and this should challenge us to renew our relationship with Him and help the nations do the same.Click here for this years ministry & task statement

Dominican Republic Mission

Church Partnership & Proposed Plan – 2014

Mission Statement

Through the blood of Jesus Christ, people all over the world should be given the opportunity to find salvation and spend eternity in Heaven.  The local church is a body of people who have been ordained by God to evangelize the world and disciple other Christians.  Through our faith, our financial and physical resources, and the opportunity to GO, we believe in the Great Commission of Matthew 28: 18-20 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.

Through the support and guidance of SCORE International, FBCW will partner with a church in a Dominican village, help the pastor spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ, provide monetary support for ministry, assist in maintaining a church building, and help disciple the local pastors and residents of the village to enable them to reach others who do not yet know Christ.  Our goal is to enable the people to maintain a successful ministry and discipleship program for the Dominican people, permanently.

Proposed Village

SCORE pastor, Nate Jude, provided information about villages and churches in the local area.  After prayerful consideration and assessment of the needs of the area, the FBCW 2013 mission team was introduced to the village of La Loma, in the area of Quisqueya.Quisqueya consists of approximately 15 villages, including La Loma.  “Miguel” is the Dominican pastor who lives in La Loma, and pastors the church.

Facts about La Loma:

  • La Loma is located in the town of Quisqueya, adding difficulty to evangelism opportunities, due to the strong
secular influence of the Dominican culture
  • Approximately 250 families live in La Loma
  • Approximately 50 people are now attending the church (Miguel’s prayer is that every family connect
with the church and come to accept Jesus Christ as their savior)
  • The families of La Loma live in extreme poverty

Needs of the Church in La Loma

  • The roof on the building of the church is in need of repair
  • Construction on a bathroom in the church was started, but is incomplete
  • An addition to the building would allow for ministry growth (children’s area, etc.)
  • Miguel also ministers to a village in a neighboring town, in a church that has no pastor (traveling on a motor scooter),   and would benefit from transportation (4-wheel-drive vehicle) to continue this ministry.  With a vehicle, more people could travel into the village and ministry could continue even when it rains.  Roads are washed away with heavy rains and access to the village is not possible without a 4-wheel-drive vehicle.
  • Discipleship and training/educational opportunities provided through a church partnership with FBCW(children’s ministry/VBS programs; adult ministry and family life education; food and clothing ministry, etc.)

Financial Needs for La Loma and Miguel’s Ministry

  • Roof repair for the church                                               $1000.00
  • Addition to the building (Sunday School area)                  3000.00
  • Completion of a bathroom in the church building                800.00
  • Ministry expenses per month                                               675.00
  • Family living expenses for Miguel                                        625.00
  • Vehicle for Miguel to travel (4-wheel-drive)                     10,000.00

Proposed Plan for FBCW / La Loma Partnership

  • Commit to support La Loma for a 3-5 year period
  • Provide monthly support for Miguel’s family and ministry (the estimated monthly cost is $1300.00; SCORE provides $400.00 per month to Miguel; it is proposed that FBCW provide $900.00 per month for a 3-5 year period; $10,800.00 per year)
  • Upon the next mission trip to the DR, make repairs to the building, and build the addition if circumstances allow; total cost is approximately $4800.00
  • Allow the entire congregation to help raise the funds for the purchase of a vehicle for Miguel; approximate cost is $10,000
  • Provide financial support to the missionary pastor assisting with church planting, Ben Hand.  Ben would be the ideal person to have as a liaison between the village of La Loma and FBCW.  The proposed amount of support: $500.00 per month. A SCORE missionary is responsible for raising their own funds to serve with SCORE.  Ben is required to raise $2600.00 per month to work as a pastor with SCORE in the DR.

Plan for 2014 Mission Trip

  • The dynamics of the 2014 team should consist of one overall leader, then three “directors”/coordinators:
    •    Building/construction coordinator
    •    Children’s ministry coordinator
    •    Adult ministry coordinator (men’s and women’s groups may work best when separated)
  • Coordinate with a SCORE pastor who assists in church planting, to determine specific needs and direction of the 2014 trip; Ben Hand is recommended
  • Continue with the food bag ministry to the village of La Loma
  • Assess other needs of the village (ministry supplies and materials, clothing, etc.)
  • Spend a week (or determined amount of time) serving in the village of La Loma, partnering with Pastor Miguel for discipleship needs, ministry and education
  • Set up routine contact with Ben Hand, to regularly assess the needs, problems, progress and praises of La Loma, the ministry run by Miguel, and the people of the village

Other Mission opportunities

Cairo, Egypt
The Cairo Cooperative Mission was developed to build an ongoing relationship with the First Baptist Church of Cairo and partner with them in many church growth and development projects.  The loving people of FBC Cairo are on fire for our Lord and carry the call of Mark 16:15 despite very limited resources.  The Mission helps give the church resources and manpower to reach a lost and dying Muslim culture and spread the gospel of Christ in a difficult political and cultural climate.  In addition to evangelism projects, the Cairo Cooperative Mission assists in building projects and a sharing of teaching and outreach methods.  Our goal is to foster a relationship that continues and fans the flames burning in their hearts to impact eternity. Orphanage in North India
FBCW member Laura Tuteral has begun a non-profit charity foundation called the North India Christian Children's Education (NICCE) Foundation. As I'm sure you can infer from the name, her foundation works to build Christian schools and homes in the rural villages of North India.  The kids from these villages don't generally have the opportunity to go to school, and if they do, they have to travel more than a week to attend schools and live at children's homes in South India
Soltsi, Russia
This mission is tentative for 2015.
Soltsi Baptist Church (SBC), led by Pastor Valeriy Leonidovich, is a small community church in the village of Soltsi, Russia.  The Soltsi church falls under the administration of a mother church, Novgorod Evangelical Baptist Church, led by Pastor Anatoliy Ivanovich.  SBC ministers to their community through several avenues including a drug rehabilitation center, a local orphanage, smaller village neighborhoods, and smaller village churches.  Soltsi has a big heart for their local community and outreaches to both the elderly and youth in the area.

The church in Soltsi faces many challenges, with one of the biggest challenges being the fact that it is a Baptist church.  Baptist churches are often perceived as cults, making it difficult to attract members as being a Baptist is viewed as socially unacceptable.  Pastor Valeriy believes we can reach children through VBS and sports camps.  Through the outreach ministries of VBS and sports camps, we will have a wonderful opportunity to reach the parents of the children as well, which will enable us to help change the negative Russian perception of the Baptist church one person at a time.  Soltsi does have the financial means to operate on a day-to-day basis; however, they do not have the income to spare for projects and community outreach.  Soltsi will also be losing their youth leader soon.  SBC has requested our assistance to host VBS and sports camps at their location. They would also like assistance with materials needed to evangelize to the children after our team leaves. Click here for 2012 year mission & ministry statefment.
